Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival has grown by leaps since 1997 from its birth and became the most representative symbol of Bucheon City, known as a Mecca of the culture with combination of Animation, Cartoon, Game and Film moving forward to its change and creativity. BIFAN has not only got the name of most dynamic film festival that brings together numerous film enthusiasts but also evolved into a global fame that deserves the term ‘Fantastic,’ filled with fresh energy of sensitivity in the past 20 years.

Through popular, creative and progressive programming, BIFAN is highly ranked by the audiences and film professionals alike and has confirmed its own unique identity by providing newly various points of views. Furthermore, with cooperation with Yubari Fantastic Film Festival in Japan and European Fantastic Film Federation among others, BIFAN has progressed into the biggest gala in Asia of genres films.

In addition to the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF), inaugurated in 2008 as the first-ever genre-specific film industry program to discover Asian new talents of genre films, BIFAN launched B.I.G (BIFAN Industry Gathering,) a new program at the festival’s 20th edition in 2016 to expand and strengthen its industry program. B.I.G is composed of following four programs: a fore-mentioned NAFF; Korea Now - a brand new program to promote Korean fantastic films & industry; Made In Asia - a yearly summary of leading films from each Asian countries; and New Media - an in-depth look at the groundbreaking new technologies and their cinematic applications.

European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation

The European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation aims to promote European film and filmmaking; With some 20 festivals represented, on the European continent as well as supporting members in Asia and North-America, and a joint audience of approximately 600.000 spectators, the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF) has become one of the most powerful tools to promote the originality and creativity of the European fantasy film industry.

Present in 16 countries, it has developed a tight network of festivals that allows films to reach foreign audiences more easily and offers them a potential visibility among the public, press and professionals that it cannot find in film markets. With the objective of supporting European fantastic cinema artistically and economically, the EFFFF has created the Golden Melies Competition for Best European Fantastic Film. BIFAN is the only supporting member in Asia of EFFFF since 2000.
